Apple Crostata

Ingredients:

Puff pastry dough

  • 300 g flour
  • 200 g butter or margarine
  • 100 g powder sugar
  • 1 yolk, a pinch of salt
  • Grated lemon zest

Filling

  • 500 g apples or three larger apples
  • 2-3 spoons of sugar
  • 1 vanilla sugar packet
  • Grated lemon zest and juice
  • Cinnamon
  • 1 spoon apricot jam
  • 100 ml white wine
  • 30 g butter
  • 30 g sliced almonds
  • 200 ml whipped cream
  • 500 ml pudding
    • 500 ml milk, 120 g sugar, 1 package of vanilla pudding

Instructions: Peel the apples, grate them and simmer with butter in a pan. Add grated lemon zest, lemon juice, white wine and cinnamon. When it turns into puree, add sugar and jam and allow it to cool. Roll the puff pastry dough, place it in the baking mould and bake. When the crostata is baked, spread the apple puree, add a layer of cool pudding and top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.

There is an alternate recipe for crostata. Spread apricot jam on the half-baked puff pastry dough. Fill with a layer of simmered apples. Cut 1-2 apples in thin slices and arrange on top. Pour melted butter on top and bake until it turns gold. Spread softened jam on the hot crostata.
